Cabler slates series on food personalities, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte

E! is moving into the foodie space while staying true to its nonfiction aesthetic, announcing new reality series “Playing With Fire” and slating the skein for April.

“Playing With Fire” follows several players at the forefront of Gotham’s glam culinary scene as they navigate their professional and personal lives.

Cabler has ordered six hourlong episodes that will feature food folk including the Chef Boyardee heiress and cookbook scribe Anna Boiardi, food entrepreneurs Derek and Daniel Koch, noted pastry chef Julie Elkind and “Top Chef” vet Candice Kumai.

Atlas Media Corp., the shingle producing “Playing With Fire,” described the show as a “sexy docusoap,” while E! Entertainment prexy Suzanne Kolb said the show “embodies a world in which a combination of talent, ambition, a lot of charm and a little gamesmanship” are key.

Bruce David Klein serves as exec producer on “Playing With Fire.”

Separately, E! also announced a reality show featuring Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte. “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?” follows the swim champ around in his life outside the pool. It will also bow on the cabler in April.
