New York based independent production company Atlas Media was informed today that the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has once again ruled in favor of Atlas, dismissing all charges leveled at the company by the Writers Guild of America East. This once and for all ends the appeals process, puts the matter to rest, and confirms that WGAE no longer represents any Atlas employees.
Last Fall, Atlas employees presented Atlas Media with a petition signed by the vast majority of WGAE bargaining unit members stating that they no longer wished to be represented by the union. WGAE brought charges against Atlas with the NLRB. In April the Labor Board’s Region 2 ruled in favor of Atlas employees’ right to decide, saying the employees and company had both acted lawfully. The union then appealed to the NLRB in Washington. In rejecting this final appeal, the NLRB said “further proceedings are unwarranted”.
